This project is very meaningful to me. This is the first real project I have done and it was a gift for my mom. My grandpa, had given me the opportunity to design my mom her dream kitchen for her birthday as long as I designed it myself. I found contractors and sourced all the material for this project. My mom loves the beach and when choosing the materials and colors I took that into consideration. I chose a very light color palette as the kitchen does not get much light. The backsplash to me looked like a collage of ocean waves crashing on the shore and the floor the foam of the water running on shore. We even worked with the painters to achieve the perfect amount of blue that would resemble the ocean skyline. We removed the peninsula to create a more cohesive flow through the kitchen and added a floor to ceiling cabinet for her to have extra storage. I learned a-lot by needing to take into consideration how beneficial the chosen material will be in the space and how to apply that to fit the budget.
